Way to represent!!!

While browsing job listings on Monster.com, I came across this description of a company:

TWO Group, is a German-owned company with it's headquarters in Stuttgart German and Guangzhou China, and offices in UK, USA, Czech and Hong Kong.​

This short statement probably has the highest error-to-word count I've seen in quite a while. Beginning with an errant comma between the subject and verb, it quickly moves into an it's/its error. Pausing the error-train only briefly, the listing misnames the country of origin (Germany), while at the same time omitting the comma between city and country, and finally naming a language (Czech) instead of a country (the Czech Republic)!

If this is how the company chooses to represent itself, I don't think I'd want to work there.

Now, some of you might wonder what brought me to this listing in the first place. Well, wonder no more! It is simply this: Having just completed my M.A. in German Literature to go along with my B.A. in German and my B.S. in Computer Science, I now need to find gainful employment. I'd like to go into translating or IT work, or perhaps do paid proofreading/editing for some of you big blogs out there. If anyone knows of a position that could use my skills, please let me know!

Apparently, someone at Gizmodo thought it would be neat to just include random words in their article.

You always hear grammar nerds saying how you shouldn't end a sentence with a prepostion. This isn't exactly one of those cases. Rather, the problem here is ending the sentence with a preposition because they left out the object of the preposition. I think it's safe to assume that he's writing his thesis about the "radical new technique" referenced in the previous sentence, but it could just as easily be something completely different.

You keep using that word... I do not think it means what you think it means...

The local campus paper has done it again:

Even though Adrian Peterson made a trip to his old stomping grounds this past weekend to coach children in the fundamentals of football, he said that coming to Norman brought back memories of his days as a Sooner.

That introduction "even though" implies that there is some kind of contradiction coming. Here, that is not the case. Preferable would be something along the lines of "When..."

One of these words just doesn't belong

I just got my Xbox 360 back from getting the RROD fixed. I am excited to try out the 1 vs. 100 Beta that launched this week for Xbox Live. While I was reading up on the game, I found this statement in Microsoft's FAQ section:

The One wins the game and if he or she eliminates all the members of The Mob.

Whoops! Looks like someone should have proofread that a little more.
